Unit EQ: How can you protect your safety while on the Internet?
LEQ: What problems do cell phones create?
Activating Strategies: Play video on youtube about sending explicit messages.
Acceleration/Previewing/Vocabulary: Sexting, instant messaging, texting.
Teaching Strategies and Distributed Guided Practice/Summarizing Prompts:
  • Sexting. is it pornography, what happens when you send or forward a pornographic picture of a minor?

  • Up to 20% of teens have sent inappropriate pictures to someone with their cell phone.
  • Remember to give location when dialing 911 on a cell phone. The GPS might not be accurate.
  • Broadcasting your location on facebook?
    • A new Web site, called PleaseRobMe.com, pulls information from social networking sites like Twitter, Foursquare and Google Buzz, that indicates that the user is not home. It then posts that message and the user's whereabouts (if known) online for all to see.
  • Posting pictures online. Some phones geotag photos.
  • Do not store personal info in your phone like your social security #
  • Have you ever lost your phone? Use passwords to lock it up for safety.
